Idaho Equine Hospital, located in the heart of the Treasure Valley, in Nampa, Idaho, is seeking a full time (36+ hours) Surgery/Anesthesia Veterinary Technician or Assistant to provide anesthesia for elective and emergency equine surgeries.
Preferred Experience:
Equine experience (including handling/restraint)
Minimum 1 year Anesthesia administration and monitoring in a clinical setting
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Self motivated, able to work independently and with a team
Veterinary Technician License preferred but not required
Job Dutes:
Ability to properly calculate drugs and create anesthesia protocols for patients
Under supervision of a veterinarian, can interpret monitoring equipment readings and blood gases to properly intervene during surgeries
Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures to ensure safe outcomes
Assist surgeons with case prep, patient positioning, radiographs, and sterile field support
Maintain accurate anesthesia and surgical records
Keep surgical suites, recovery stalls and treatment areas clean and organized
Collaborate with surgeons, technicians, and interns to develop seamless patient care
Provide post-op patient care and nursing
Strong ability to communicate with clients
Assist with lameness and sports medicine exams and diagnostic imaging
Maintain inventory in central supply by cleaning instruments, preparing surgical packs and sterilizing equipment
Be available for emergency on call anesthesia
